Death is the dark sister of the goddess Hecate. She basks in the beauty of a fiery full moon suspended in a burnt orange sky. Across this a murder of crows fly. These black birds are powerful winged messengers from the other side, and help the Lady of Death guide the ghosts of the departed through the Nether realm.
The red roses Lady Death holds represent blood and the blossoming of new life, indicating immortality and purification. She stands before a crimson sea of souls and is a powerful sorceress spirit associated with the water sign scorpio. Through this she is able to administer venom which can both cripple and cure.
Lady Death signifies letting go of what does not serve us and guides us through the portal leading to new transitions and rebirth. Her magic is especially strong at Halloween/All Souls night. As Fall turns to winter she sends her servant, the Grim Reaper, to harvest the souls ready to leave earth. This makes space for the new life of spring to grow.
