Also known as the “Magus”, the Magician is a powerful symbol of using one’s resources, talents and capabilities to their full potential. This sense of self actualization indicates a state of creating or casting.

He is seen in black which represents his ability to vanish into the void and also produce illusions. His black wand is connected to this aspect too and he uses it to conduct and transform energy. The wand he holds glows yellow, signifying a connection with the element of air and “making things appear out of thin air.”

White gloves and a white wand tip indicate the Magician’s ability to project light and illumination from out of darkness. This is a key component in conjuring. He holds a hat from which light emanates and he will make something appear. This, in essence, is iconic of a portal or black hole and being able to pull things through it into this dimension or, in turn, send things through to another.

The purple veil he is standing in front of represents a strong link to spirit and the nether realms. The Magician is associated with the Norse trickster god Loki, a master of deception.

Reversed: In the reverse this archetype is deceitful with barriers in communication, a lack of energy and ill intent. Inability to manifest or self actualize.
